My Background

Hi! My name is Arean Alston and I’m the proud founder and head instructor at Jammin Piano Lessons. At 4 years old I performed my first musical selection in front of a live audience playing Joy to The World. It’s been 30+ years since that moment and I’ve been performing and expressing that same joy ever since. I’ve had awesome teachers from childhood, college, and in the real world working as a professional musician.

I’m so thankful for the opportunity to travel the world as an international touring musician due to the knowledge and experiences gained along the way. It’s truly an honor to share it here and give it all back in the form of virtual learning.

Sharing my Passion

To say that music is my passion would be an understatement. It’s more than what I listen to, what I play, or how I’ve made it a career. It’s an outlet to express myself when words can’t speak. If there was only one thing I could do for the rest of my life it would definitely be playing and creating music. Music is my life and I dedicate this part of it to those who have taught me. Now its my turn to pay it forward.

My Classes

Our foundation of learning piano and keyboard is built on standard principles in music theory, technique, and performance. However, our greater focus is ear training and making sure students are prepared to play anything they hear. Possessing a strong vocabulary and understanding key terms will help students become better in communicating with other musicians. Its also very important to have some knowledge of music history and how all of this came to be.

We will use technology to conduct online classes and will eventually incorporate the use of digital music workstations and other apps. The master classes will be extremely helpful in gaining more insight from guest instructors as well. Having a variety of ways to learn and grow will be major keys in our success!
